The item Conveyor Belt System – modular and adaptable conveyor belt technology

The item Conveyor Belt System creates modular solutions for reliably transporting production components and small load carriers.

Production and logistics centres need to get goods from A to B. Whatever their size, shape and weight, goods and containers must be transported to their destination both quickly and reliably. The item Building Kit System creates the basis for virtually unlimited possibilities when it comes to customised conveying technology applications. Components already available for such applications include roller conveyors, conveyor rollers, slide strips and chain conveyor systems. The conveying technology portfolio is now being extended with the new item Conveyor Belt System – for efficient goods flows with or without accumulation. This system’s durability and efficient operation minimise maintenance work and boost productivity. Most importantly of all, the Conveyor Belt System shares all the strengths of the item Building Kit System. Its modular design concept and compatibility with other item product ranges produce conveyor belt technology solutions that are geared precisely to the relevant transport operation. It’s therefore incredibly easy both to build autonomous conveyor lines and to integrate conveyor sections into existing systems. A special configuration tool makes planning exceptionally straightforward. Our experts use details such as length, width and transport weight to design the ideal conveyor solution for your needs.

Flat Belt Conveyors and Timing Belt Conveyors from the item Conveyor Belt System

Flat Belt Conveyor 8 40 D consists of a basic frame made from aluminium profiles, plus return and drive assemblies, a glide plate and the conveyor belt. It’s powered by an asynchronous three-phase AC motor that is available in two designs and can be tailored perfectly to specific requirements, with transport speeds ranging from 2.5 m/min to nearly 30 m/min. Besides serving both a protective and a supporting function, the Flat Belt Conveyor’s glide plate also increases the conveyor belt’s wear resistance. Belts are available with either an adherent or a non-adherent surface. The item Conveyor Belt System includes belts that exhibit low static friction, which allows transported goods to accumulate. In non-accumulating systems, on the other hand, belts with an adherent surface can be used to securely transport goods and containers at a gradient of up to 20°.

The Timing Belt Conveyor is particularly suited to transporting heavy loads.

Timing Belt Conveyor 8 40 D in widths of 40 mm and 80 mm is the best choice for transporting heavy goods. Timing Belt Guide Strips keep this industrial conveyor belt on track, with the side guides helping the Timing Belt to cope with lateral forces. What’s more, the Drive Pulley creates a mechanically locked connection and transfers high loads to the belt. Double-conveyor variants of the Flat Belt Conveyor and the Timing Belt Conveyor are available for transporting dimensionally stable goods and containers. In this case, two belts spaced up to 2400 mm apart, depending on requirements, run in sync. The space between the two belts of Double Flat Belt Conveyor 8 40 D is also perfect for fitting sensors and actuators.

Conveyor belt technology interacting with linear technology and robotics

An innovative application at item headquarters in Solingen, Germany, demonstrates the Conveyor Belt System’s impressive performance. The Range Extender conveyor belt technology project consists of a linear axis from the item Linear System that runs in parallel with a Flat Belt Conveyor 6000 mm long and is fitted with a cobot moving in sync with the industrial conveyor belt. item tested and successfully integratedUniversal Robots UR5 and an ABB CRB 15000 for this task. The cobot picks up individual components from the belt and rearranges them without interrupting the movement of the belt. The Flat Belt Conveyor is connected to a roller conveyor, on which the finished workpiece continues its journey. This example clearly shows how the modular design and end-to-end compatibility of item components make for more versatile applications. On this basis, numerous types of conveyor line can be used for a variety of requirements. Besides the adaptability of item conveyor belt technology, this application also clearly demonstrates the advantages of robots in industry.
