item TechDay – experiencing the whole world of item in one place

The first item TechDay was a resounding success. Here are some of the highlights from this premiere in Solingen.

Delving into the full item product range, talking to development and product management experts, listening to exclusive presentations and finding out about the latest new products – this is what the item TechDay was all about! Visitors had the opportunity to get up close and personal with a multitude of exhibits from a whole host of sectors – clean production, conveyor belt systems, robotics applications, intralogistics, automation and much, much more. Our experts were also on hand to showcase solutions based on the item Building Kit System and to answer questions. This successful premiere of the item TechDay in April 2023 is now set to be followed by further TechDays across the whole of Germany.

An ambitious programme for a wide audience

On 19 April 2023, we welcomed our visitors to the European headquarters in Solingen for the very first item TechDay. Besides the opportunity to get personal, tailored advice while viewing the exhibits, there were special presentations about cleanroom production, Karakuri/LCA (= low-cost automation), automation and online design with the item Engineeringtool.

Following on from the hugely successful first item TechDay, further events will now be held at four branches.

The chance to use virtual reality software and a VR headset to try out an assembly work bench configured online proved particularly popular. Following on from the hugely successful first item TechDay, further events will now be held at four branches. The full item product range will be represented and explained in person at these events, too.

The full product range is represented at the item TechDay. Shown here are classic fasteners (left) along with examples of the more recent ranges added to the item world – a machine cabin for cleanroom use (centre) and a robot island with an integrated base cabinet (right).

An impressive glimpse behind the scenes and inspiring discussions

The item TechDay offers a whole host of benefits. For some visitors, it’s all about the chance to see all the details of item products for themselves. Others use the opportunity to find out more about the work item staff are engaged in. Many visitors who attended the item TechDay in Solingen were also keen to see the European headquarters for the first time and experience the sheer size of the place for themselves, with the exhibition area alone measuring around 25,000 square metres. There was a great deal more to discover, too – from the warehouse and individual part assembly to the various areas where machining takes place.

Many visitors enjoyed having the opportunity to sit down at a table with us and discuss the products in person. There was a huge demand, and we’ve had glowing feedback.

The spectacular location, the inspiring solutions and, not least, the personal discussions were all huge hits. “Many visitors enjoyed having the opportunity to sit down at a table with us and discuss the products in person. There was a huge demand, and we’ve had glowing feedback,” says Uwe Schmitz, Head of Product Management at item. Wolfram Rüther, who is responsible for sales at the Piepersberg site, is equally enthusiastic. “The feedback from customers was extremely positive. When you get comments such as ‘You really are a shining example’, then you know you’ve got a lot of things right.”
